In order not to fear type, you need to practice using it. I do not mean just copying and pasting type into a document and saying that you are a master of text. I mean actually learning what looks good. By that I mean learning how to use different typefaces to get different tones, learning how to use kerning and tracking alterations, and learning how to lay the text out. For me this is something I am still learning every day. I am learning what looks good where, and how to make things have a hierarchy. It is going to take a lot of practice, but one day I will master it.
